This issue of the journal is dedicated to the concept of competitiveness. Competitiveness is a complex issue covering the whole range of topics. The basic platforms of competitiveness are macroeconomic environment and institutional factors
on national level. Together they form different opportunities for total economic growth. However, we can analyze more disaggregate levels of competitiveness on the regional or firm’s level and the articles in this issue of the journal are focused on them. Regional dimension of competitiveness can reveal why some areas are economically successful and others are systematically falling behind. Even more microeconomic level of competitiveness can be found on the level of firms where we can try to identify how ownership structure or financial indicators can determine economic success of the firm.
